A North Start for regenerative systems.
An invitation to see, recognise and understand
As we orient towards home, we discover what has shaped us, understand the patterns that influence how we experience life, integrate what we come to know, and gradually embody a way of being that allows us to remain rooted in ourselves while participating in the world. We return to ourselves so that we can meet life from a more grounded place. From here, the question becomes one of orientation within the wider field. When we are no longer entirely governed by inherited patterns, external expectations, or the pull of every demand around us, we can begin to ask: What matters? What are we in relationship with? What are we here to serve? And how do we know which way to move? As we move through the Atlas, these questions become ways of finding our bearings. We may begin to notice recurring questions emerging:
Recognition
What is happening? What patterns have become normalised? What tensions, assumptions, or conditions quietly shape how we relate to ourselves, others, and the systems around us?
Interpretation
What does this feel like and why?
How do environments shape perception, participation, trust, and behaviour? Where might stress, grief, power asymmetry, or disconnection influence how we respond to uncertainty, conflict, or change?
Emergence
What might be trying to show itself?
What becomes visible when we look beyond current conditions? Where might dignity, participation, connection, and adaptive capacity already be creating the conditions for something different?

White paper Feature

Before we can change where we are going, we need to understand where we are. We participate in many ecologies at once — families, workplaces, communities, institutions, economies, digital environments and more. Each shapes what becomes possible, visible and valued. The second paper in the Progressive Value Stream Architecture™ (PVSA) White Paper Series explores the human adaptive capacity that shapes how we participate. It examines both degradation and restoration loops, helping us understand what constrains our agency, what might keep us in recursive precarity, and how we might operationalise restoration spirals instead.

We are not outside these maps looking in. Each of us is somewhere within them.

Let's take a moment to locate ourselves. What has shaped you? What are you carrying? What have you learned? What matters to you now? What might you have, to contribute to what is emerging? Because within this Atlas, no two people occupy exactly the same position — and therefore no two people see, know, or can contribute in exactly the same way. And with our unique lenses, when we come together — we can see better, we can co-prosper.

ENTER THE ATLAS

Many forms of dignity erosion become difficult to recognise because they are gradually normalised, inherited, internalised, or rendered structurally invisible. Over time, people may adapt to chronic stress, unstable belonging, emotional minimisation, procedural harm, or unsupported precarity until these experiences begin to feel like “this is just life”, when it does not have to be.
The Atlas invites us to notice what might be happening through a wider lens, helping us understand the conditions contributing to the reality unfolding around us. This creates space to observe patterns rather than judge or dismiss a situation through whatever lens we may already hold. As we develop this capacity, patterns across individuals, relationships, organisations, communities, and ecosystems — including those that might otherwise remain fragmented, normalised, or difficult to name — can be witnessed more clearly, creating room to reflect, amend, and strive for co-prosperity.

AN ITERATIVE JOURNEY

Dignity is not only about how we treat others or how systems are designed. It also asks us to look honestly at ourselves — to notice what shapes our perception, what may be getting in the way, and what is ours to do.
The Atlas is not a fixed answer or a linear path. It is an invitation to notice, reflect, learn and return. As we see more clearly, our understanding can change. What first appeared to be an individual experience may reveal a wider pattern in our relationships, communities, or systems.
This is why we may return to the same questions many times — from different places, with new understanding.
We do not experience systems and structures as abstractions. We experience them through our everyday lives: whether we feel safe or unsafe, seen or unseen, included or excluded, empowered or constrained. This is where your experience matters — and where we invite you to contribute to our Signal Collection Portal, helping to widen the field of what can be seen and understood.
Change can begin simply: making what is happening visible, finding language for it, creating space to reflect, and asking what a healthier way forward might look like. And from there, something becomes possible: greater understanding, better relationship, meaningful participation, and co-prosperity.

Co-prosperity asks us to look beyond having more, toward how we live, relate and contribute. It is a way of becoming increasingly able to honour the dignity, agency and wholeness of ourselves, one another, the living world, and the Truth to which we are accountable.
